Become a Member of Mountainhome Music
We need your help to preserve the Appalachian traditions of music, storytelling, and dance. By becoming a member of Mountainhome Music, you are contributing to preserving the traditions rooted in these Appalachian Mountains. Contribute to the Mountainhome Music Archival Project Since it started in 1994, MHM has produced over 200 concerts. Performers have included three National Folk-life Award winners, seven North Carolina Folk Heritage Award winners, and over 1000 local and regional performers. Thirty-seven shows have been broadcast on educational television in Watauga County and in Winston-Salem, fourteen on local AM radio (WATA), and twenty on WETS public radio (Johnson City TN). In 2004, the Clabough Foundation helped to fund a high quality, digital sound and recording system for MHM. With this equipment, MHM has been able to provide high quality audio for the live audience as well as to digitally record twenty-seven concerts. MHM’s goal is to archive all recorded concerts on CDs, make the CDs available for sale to help MHM become self-sustaining, and to offer these recordings to public radio so a wider audience can enjoy these wonderful concerts. We estimate that $30,000 is needed to accomplish these goals. A local corporation has agreed to match funds raised in this membership campaign. For example, if MHM can raise $15,000, the corporation will donate $15,000 to reach the goal of $30,000 needed. We sincerely appreciate your generosity! Your contribution will help keep the music, storytelling, dance, etc. of yesteryear available for future generations.
