Independence Day Salute: Bluegrass & Brass

Every
Memorial Day weekend for the past eight years, MHM honors veterans with
Bluegrass & Brass. As always,
Harold McKinney and his colleagues at the Hayes School of Music will provide
the brass, and this year, our good friends Scott Freeman, Steve Lewis, and
David Johnson will provide the bluegrass. Always a poignant and exciting
show—the tradition continues.
When they get together, there is some
bluegrass, some brass, and a lively dose of the two groups and styles
together. The sound is akin to Dixieland jazz, but it’s…bluegrass and
brass."
The brass
ensemble features Harold McKinney on trombone, Bill Jones on trumpet, Brent
Bingham on trumpet, Karen Robertson on French horn, and David Palmer on
tuba.
