Mountain Home Music Archival Project

We need your help to preserve the Appalachian traditions of music, storytelling, and dance. By becoming a member of Mountain Home Music, you are contributing to preserving the traditions rooted in these Appalachian Mountains.

Mountain Home Music has produced over 200 concerts since it began in 1994. Performers have included three National Folk-life Award winners, seven North Carolina Folk Heritage Award winners, and over 1000 local and regional performers. Thirty-seven shows have been broadcast on educational television in Watauga County and in Winston-Salem, fourteen on local AM radio (WATA), and twenty on WETS public radio (Johnson City TN).

Ticket sales and sponsorships don't cover the costs of putting on the many Mountain Home Music shows each year. Joe Shannon, Mountain Home Music founder, coordinated these concerts for nine years with no compensation.

Since Mountain Home Music became a non-profit agency in 2003, the board has had sufficient funds to pay Joe a small stipend for his roles as Executive Director and musician, as well as appropriately compensate all musicians for their time and talent.

Your contributions will help keep the Appalachian traditions of yesteryear available for future generations.

Members Meet Musicians

Each year we thank our members by hosting a Meet the Musicians Party. Last year it was held at Ned Trivette's house in the Bethel community of Watauga County. There was a great turnout!

Without the loyal support of our members, Mountain Home Music would not exist, and we are grateful to everyone who contributes to helping Mountain Home Music accomplish its mission.

Become, and continue to be a member

Please remember to maintain your membership by contributing each year. There is a ever growing need for donations to match the funds committed to archiving the Mountain Home Music concerts. Your name will appear on the website list of members.
